Thoughtfulness And Endings
A poem by Jason Morton

Walk forward with trepidation of tomorrow
For the enemy fast approaches your hold on the here and now
Feel not this way, and do not suffer sorrow
Let go of the anger built by the why's and the how
Take solace in your final run being all that you could make it
Live every tomorrow to its fullest extent
Utter words of appreciation on love of others before you forget
Take pride in the glory of how your day's been spent
To lift up those around you
Now is an all important task
For they'll struggle with what to do
But they'll be there until the breath that is last
Cry not for the things out of your control
And let not foolish pride make you slap that hand away
Spend time in the memories of ole
Be greatful for each new day
Not fair it might feel
As that final rest grows close
To do it so young, a raw deal
Your life was more that most
Fall not with fear or shame
You were but a man
Remember how hard you played the game
And strangl everything out of this life that you can
It comes for us all
The debt all must pay
No one avoids that final call
Even if they want to stay
Loved much, you did
Many hurts worn like scars
The secrets you kept hid
Nights staring deep into the stars
As it comes closer to your time
Who were you really in the end
The devil who spent years fighting crime
A father, brother, son, a fighter and good friend
Growing inside you, that feeling of misery and pain
Fighting each day to stay in a world you barely know
Still a warrior inside, one that's got little left to gain
Even the tougher that you know would prefer to just go
Not now, nor ever, has time been on your side
Always a limited asset it was meant to be
From the icy grasp of the reaper you hide
As fate shows no mercy to thee
Little by little, with each day that passes you by
It takes pieces of what you once were
And ghosts haunt your tortured mind while in your bed you cry
Seeing only the face of her
A symbol meant to bond you did not last in this life
Perhaps there'll be another chance to get it right
Has the devil grown strong enough to take your life
As you must believe, it won't be on this night
About the Creator

From fiction to reality there’s tons to share about this crazy life. From being a single father, an officer, and having had many insane adventures while I learned about the world, my imagination runs wild with ideas.
