American Dream is Broken
For much of the 20th century, the United States was associated with a broad and stable middle class. Rising wages, home ownership, accessible higher education, and stable employment formed the backbone of what was often referred to as “the American Dream.” The idea was that if you work hard, play by the rules, and save for the future, you will achieve success and build a good life for yourself and your children.

CRTD to CRTDD
Vocal's parent company Creatd Inc. has quietly reversed-split its stock today at the 1-to-20 ratio. As of now, at 1:30 pm, it trades as CRTDD (extra D for the temporary status of restructuring or reorganization) at $4.00 per share, i.e. already $6.94 less than the reversed-split value of $10.94.

Plain Pasta, Part 2
I met Kira at the entrance of the 12-story building where the Italian rented his apartment and went up to the sixth floor. The building itself was notable — one of the few high-rises in central Bishkek built from an individual design rather than a standard Soviet brutalist blueprint. For those of us raised in cramped five-story blocks and Khrushchev-era apartments for the proletariat, it was intriguing just to see the inside. “At least for that reason, the evening won’t be wasted,” I decided.

Only Lovers Left Alive
Today I watched "Only Lovers Left Alive," a 2013 Jim Jarmusch film. It is hard to define its genre: Wikipedia describes it as "Gothic fantasy comedy-drama," but I've also seen it defined as "horror thriller." I guess to say it has a little bit of everything would be fair. I'm going to run it quickly through my usual media literacy analysis, with major spoilers included. So if you want to watch it and hate spoilers, you should probably stop here.

Teslas in Tbilisi
When I arrived in Tbilisi in August 2025, I noticed right away how many Tesla cars this city had. I obviously don't have the exact stats but it seems like they are everywhere and there's a lot more of them compared to other large cities I've been to.
