Say it plainly challenge

Write a poem that states its central concern directly without metaphor, indirection, or symbolic substitution.

I bought a Talking Hearts couples edition box of 200 questions, with 100 playful and 100 thoughtful. I gave them to my husband for Christmas.

That was in 2024. He never opened them, so I asked if I could open them to have something to write about. We would then be able to discuss.

It was a trick, and I don't think he caught on. Wasn't very direct, and it worked. He said two cards, or four questions. And we started.

First question: To pick a tattoo for me, and I for you, and we both darted

to spit out our answer of a monkey.

Two: What is going well in our lives? His answer is his motorcycle started

and is all set to go, all clean and shiny, and now to wait for the weather

This year, I will need to put some money into new leather.

And I am hiring a granddaughter to clean my bike.

What is going well in my life is that I can afford to do both, and that I like.

Question three: When offered a free trip to space, would you go?

My answer was hell no!

His was yes, I would go!

I knew you would go and leave me, that's low!

Questions four: How do our personalities complement each other.

Humor, recovery, love of family, and he is old and still a good lover!

You two seem to be a beautiful couple, and you even speak the same way as I and my husband. It shows in your story, of which I loved reading.
