She Thought It Was Just Another Night — Until Everything Changed
She didn’t know it would be the last normal night of her life.

She spun around.
Nothing.
The street was empty.
Silent.
As if nothing had ever been there.
As if she had imagined everything.
But she hadn’t.
Because something had followed her.
It started as a feeling.
That strange, uncomfortable awareness you get when you know someone is watching.
She had felt it the moment she left the café.
At first, she ignored it.
Told herself she was just tired.
Overthinking.
But the feeling didn’t go away.
It grew stronger with every step she took.
The streetlights flickered above her.
Too quiet.
No cars.
No voices.
No footsteps behind her.
And yet…
She knew.
She turned again.
Still nothing.
Just the empty street stretching endlessly behind her.
Her breath quickened.
Her fingers tightened around her bag.
“Stop it,” she whispered to herself.
“You’re imagining things.”
But then—
A sound.
Soft.
Close.
Right behind her.
She froze.
Slowly, she turned her head.
Nothing.
Her heart pounded violently in her chest.
Too loud.
Too fast.
Something was wrong.
Very wrong.
She started walking faster.
Then faster.
Then almost running.
The feeling followed.
Closer now.
Heavier.
Like a presence just out of sight.
Her house appeared at the end of the street.
Finally.
Relief hit her like a wave.
She rushed forward, fumbling for her keys.
Her hands were shaking.
The door.
Open it.
Now.
The key slipped once.
Twice.
Then—
Click.
She rushed inside and slammed the door behind her.
Locked it.
Then locked it again.
Silence.
She leaned against the door, breathing hard.
Safe.
She was safe.
Or so she thought.
Because slowly…
Very slowly…
She realized something.
The feeling hadn’t stopped.
It wasn’t outside anymore.
