La Femme Nikita is a Surprisingly Dark Television Show
This is not your typical James Bond.

I'm barely on the first season of La Femme Nikita, and I was expecting this to be your typical spy television show about a woman who becomes an expert spy among her own crew of people. However, this show is much darker than I anticipated. We follow the story of a young woman named Nikita, who is randomly kidnapped by a government program known as the Section, who train people who won't be missed into killer machines.
From the very first episode, Nikita expresses a lot of doubt with the Section, feeling like this program is ruthless and unforgiving when it comes to every single mission. Even though the Section is determined to save lives, they are willing to kill several innocents to get the job done, as long as the missions will always go their way. Nikita is like a breathe of fresh air among the crew, she is the only one who is determined to keep her humanity intact, and she is constantly fighting against what the Section stands for.
You will feel so sorry for her character in so many episodes, as she is always fighting with the Section, including one Section member: Michael.

His character is by far one of the most interesting members of the Section. He is a chameleon that is able to become any kind of persona for any mission, while maintaining an emotionless and cold-hearted version of himself among the Section. He is the mentor of Nikita, always looking after her, and reminding her that she is no longer considered a person.
She must become a soulless human to keep on surviving in the Section, to ensure that nothing will ever go wrong. Michael and Nikita are always on opposing sides when it comes to the evil nature of the Section, and I'm so curious if Nikita will eventually be able to break through those walls one day.
Michael has literally used her attraction towards him to his own advantage, breaking Nikita's heart in the process. It's so messed up with what Michael is willing to do for the Section, there was even one episode in season 1 where he made a woman fall in love with him, in order to take down her crooked husband. He did sort of apologize to her, but the experience left her so traumatized and heartbroken, and this moment really made me dislike Michaeal's character after this.
(At the same time, his character is so fascinating to watch).
Nikita was so angry at him during the entire episode, and I love how she was still willing to stick to her humanity, and she even gave a genuine apology to the woman that Michael had used for the mission.
It's so sad how the Section members are literally seen like soulless robots, and I think that is what happened to every single Section member, minus Nikita. There have been some interesting moments of the other Section members revealing small glimpses of their own humanity, and it's so tragic how none of them can ever lead a normal life again. And if you choose to leave the program of your own volition, the Section will have you killed.
I did not expect a spy show to have me hooked like this. I was expecting a boring and bland television show full of sexy spies, but there is so much more to this series than I realized.
It's a gritty and sad tale, of spies who were forced to erase their humanity forever.
