2026 Mitsubishi Xforce Launched in Malaysia: A Fresh Contender in the B-Segment SUV Arena
A new contender

After months of teasers, previews, and patient waiting, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has officially launched the all-new Mitsubishi Xforce . Locally assembled (CKD) in Pekan, Pahang, the B-segment SUV arrives in two variants: the base Urban and the range-topping Ultimate .
With final pricing now confirmed, the Xforce Urban is priced at RM109,980 , while the Ultimate comes in at RM119,980 —just RM20 less than initial estimates . For early adopters, there is a RM5,000 cash rebate available for bookings made until April 12, 2026 , making the effective launch price even more attractive .
What Powers the Xforce?
Under the bonnet lies a familiar workhorse: the 4A91 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated MIVEC inline-four petrol engine , shared with the Xpander. It produces 105 PS at 6,000 rpm and 141 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm , paired with an Aisin-sourced CVT driving the front wheels. Malaysia does not receive the hybrid powertrain option available in some other markets .
While these figures are modest compared to turbocharged rivals, the Xforce compensates with other attributes: a class-leading 2,650 mm wheelbase , 222 mm of ground clearance , and the inclusion of Mitsubishi's Active Yaw Control (AYC) a feature made famous by Lancer Evolution models which enhances cornering stability and traction .
Urban vs. Ultimate: What You Get for the Extra RM10,000
The Urban variant is no stripper model. It comes generously equipped with:
Analogue gauges paired with a 4.2-inch TFT multi-info display
8-inch touchscreen head unit with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
Automatic LED headlamps, LED DRLs, and LED taillights
Leatherette seat upholstery
Six-speaker sound system
Dual-zone air-conditioning with lap cooling vent
Front digital video recorder (dashcam)
Stepping up to the Ultimate adds a significant amount of kit:
8-inch customisable digital instrument cluster (inspired by the Pajero)
12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
Selectable drive modes: Normal, Wet, Gravel, and Mud
Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium System with eight speakers and four unique sound types (Lively, Signature, Powerful, Relaxing). This is not merely a branding exercise; Yamaha engineers joined early in the Xforce's development to optimise the system for the cabin's specific acoustics .
nanoe X air purification
Wireless charging pad
Blue ambient lighting
Powered tailgate with hands-free function
Auto-dimming rear-view mirror
Rear DVR
The Ultimate also features a White Mélange weave on the fabric-covered dashboard a rarity in this segment and Mocha accents on the seats, while the Urban's interior is predominantly black .
Safety: A Tale of Two Variants
Both variants have earned a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating . However, the safety equipment differs significantly.
The Urban comes with:
Four airbags
Blind spot warning
Rear cross traffic alert
Lane change assist
Front and rear parking sensors
Around-view monitor
The Ultimate adds:
Forward collision mitigation with autonomous emergency braking
Adaptive cruise control
Lead car departure notification
Auto high beam
Two additional airbags (total of six)
Tyre pressure monitoring
Dimensions and Practicality
The Xforce is competitively sized within the B-segment SUV class. It offers the longest wheelbase among its key rivals, which translates to better rear passenger space.
Model Length (mm) Width (mm) Height (mm) Wheelbase (mm)
Mitsubishi Xforce 4,390 1,810 1,660 2,650
Honda HR-V 4,347-4,385 1,790 1,590-1,591 2,610
Proton X50 4,380 1,795 1,609 2,600
Chery Omoda O5 4,400 1,830 1,588 2,630
Toyota Corolla Cross 4,460 1,825 1,620 2,640
The rear seats feature a 40:20:40 split-folding design with eight levels of manual recline and a centre armrest. Boot space is competitive, though Mitsubishi has not released official litres figures at launch .
Early Bird Promotions and Warranties
MMM is offering several incentives to early buyers:
RM5,000 cash rebate for bookings made by April 12, 2026 (extended from the initial 2,000-unit limit)
Additional RM1,000 cash rebate for existing Mitsubishi owners, their immediate family members, and government servants
Entry into a "Buy 1 Free 1" contest for a chance to win another Xforce in top spec
Five-year, unlimited-mileage warranty
Claimed lowest maintenance cost in the class at RM3,978.03 over five years
Colours and Accessories
The Xforce is available in five colours: Diamond Black Mica, Red Metallic, Graphite Gray, and Quartz White Pearl (RM400 option). MMM also offers genuine accessory packages:
Urban Level Up (RM1,000) : Adds tailgate spoiler and engine hood emblem to the Urban, making it visually resemble the Ultimate
Excitement package (RM4,100) : Front under garnish, side door garnish, rear under garnish
Practicality package (RM700) : Luggage tray and mud guard
The first 50 customers purchasing these packages receive a 20 percent discount .
The Mitsubishi Xforce enters a crowded and competitive B-segment SUV market. It does not chase turbocharged power figures; instead, it leans into Mitsubishi's traditional strengths: durability, practicality, and a well-sorted chassis enhanced by Active Yaw Control.
The Urban variant offers strong value for buyers who prioritise essential equipment and are willing to forgo ADAS. The Ultimate, with its Yamaha sound system, larger screens, and comprehensive safety suite, is the more compelling package for those who can stretch the budget.
With the RM5,000 rebate available until April 12, the effective price of the Urban drops to RM104,980 and the Ultimate to RM114,980 making the Xforce a serious contender against the Honda HR-V, Proton X50, and Chery Omoda O5.
The question is not whether the Xforce is a good car. It is. The question is whether Mitsubishi has done enough, quickly enough, to win back buyers in a segment it helped pioneer with the ASX years ago. Early indicators are promising: the Xforce had already garnered over 2,600 bookings before launch . The next few months will tell whether that interest translates into sustained sales success.
