Velvet Sins
Poem.

As spiders crawl
upon your skin
Do you wince or whine
Lie awake at twilight
as spindles
Spin lacy traps
Across your window
and beyond
As spiders nest
inside openings
Nooks and crannies
Do you wish for death
Hunting as they do
for warmth
Bodily moisture offers comfort
For the weary eight-legged beast
In your nasolacrimal they rest
To find a mate
and meal they must
Your breath falters
As your heart quickens
The chimes of death
The clock strikes midnight
Long the path
To dawn
Your saviour
Crooked
And wrought with terror
What lies in wake
Then breed
between your thighs
On velvet skin
and wanting lust
Where the swollen sins
lay bare
Though you wish
To cry, to scream
Their razor legs
Approach
Your maw stays shut
Teasing twixt lips plush red
You feel the strike
As they intrude
And take you
As their host
Say farewell
To day, to night

I really enjoyed this poem. I know I'm supposed to be shuddering in fear, but I was just enthralled with your descriptions. To be fair, I ate a spider once, on purpose. Tarantula, well just one of its legs. It tasted fine, but the little hairs felt like they were stuck in my throat for about an hour afterward. And no, I'm not afraid of spiders. I find them fascinating and have no problem "dealing" with them when they intrude in my home. When I was young it was my job to save my mother and older sister from the invading spiders, now I have to save my hubby from them.
Nicely done, Paul. I hate spiders. I don't trust them. One minute they are there, and then they are gone to who knows where.
I'm not scared of spiders, but you did such a great with the descriptions and building a sense of dread, that I just might be a tiny bit apprehensive about them now, haha.
Oh my gawd. While this was awesome, I shouldn’t have looked up nasolacrimal. The shudders are real! LOL great poem, Paul, I love it
Well if I didnt have arachnophobia before…

I can't wait for more.
