The Thrill Thieves

A Sonnet

Those humans who wish you well will rejoice

When you find a source of harmless pleasure

Even if it is an eccentric choice:

An artifact made just to your measure

https://viewcomiconline.com/az/C/

But there are those who will seek to spoil fun

To denigrate your peculiar taste

To disparage the dopamine rich pun

To call the time you spend reading a waste

Recognize the signs of their disorder:

They cannot stand to see you relish joy

Beyond their own proclivityโ€™s border

What they cannot understand, they destroy

Savor your small, secret, silly pleasure

What they dismiss as trash, know as treasure

Sonnet

This is 100% fantastic! I love how you're poem's words relate to the comic strips, and I love how you've blasted those black and white views on reading. Great work, D.J.

    I like this title a lot ! & and a great message in your sonnet, D.J. This was โ€œmental man!โ€ ;0)

'Recognize the signs of their disorder' - yes, exactly that!! THEIR disorder. Screw the haters and just enjoy what you enjoy :) I really appreciated this one.

  • Sadly, there are so many people like that. Your poem had so much truth to it

Goodness, that was totally me back in the day. I loved the comics and superheroes. If only I had kept them I would be rich today. I know too about hearing of the wasting of time. But we learned and proved them wrong. Victory. Love this a lot.
