Temporarily Love, On Hold

A rest is better than a break

Temporarily Love, On Hold

I placed us gently on a silent shelf,

not broken, no, just paused mid breath,

like something sacred, waiting in the dark,

where even time feels watched.

Do you feel it still, that pull, that ache,

like a storm that will not spend itself,

circling, tightening, refusing sleep,

demanding to be named?

I did not end you, understand this truth,

I gripped you hard, then forced my hands to still,

because love like ours does not fade softly,

it burns, or it destroys.

Nights your voice walks through my chest,

heavy, uninvited, fierce and known,

it does not ask, it takes its space,

as if I never let you go.

This is not weakness, this is control,

a blade held steady at my own throat,

one move, one word, one reckless reach,

and everything would spill again.

So here we are, suspended, breathing low,

two hearts refusing to forget their fire,

love on hold, but never gone,

just waiting for the moment it can rise.

And still I guard it, fierce, almost afraid,

not of you, but of the flood you bring,

because once I open what I sealed,

there will be no closing it again.

Stay there now, where silence holds you still,

not forgotten, never cast aside,

just held in dark, demanding space,

until I choose to let you live.
