Red Stain

A Poem

Black and white marks.

Your face is exposed now

but you've learned to hide so well.

Confide in me,

I can tell

how your pride weighs you down.

---

These emerald eyes

have long lost fear

but they silently feed on despair.

---

How that needle pierces my skin.

Meet the lion's stare

just to become aware

that only love

overrules

the grasp for power.

---

There's danger

in firm, fierce faces.

It is in the nature of beauty

to hold a promise of danger.

---

Sunflower fields stretch

as far as the eye reaches.

Long mahagoni roots

reach deep,

branches stretch

toward an unclouded sky.

---

I sense a state shift

 - such soft skin -

Back when I was scared,

our eyes wouldn't have met.

---

You're so composed

while I've decomposed

in dark soils.

My heart beats

all the stronger now.

---

Bring the music back on.

Caress my cheeks.

Soundwaves burst pink bubbles.

Rain falls.

---

No, we can't go back.

All attempts are in vain.

What shall remain?

A single red stain.

---
