Merriam Webster - Word of the day: Tranche refers to a division or portion of a whole.
World Contact Day is commemorated every year on March 15. It is a unique observance held globally to focus on communicating with extraterrestrial life and exploring the possibility that intelligent beings may exist beyond Earth.
World Contact Day inspires people to invoke their curiosity and spend time thinking about the universe and the mysteries surrounding it.
What is the “Ides of March”? According to the Roman calendar, the Ides are a monthly occurrence. In March and other months with 31 days, the Ides always falls on the 15th; it falls on the 13th in months with 30 days. The Ides traditionally marked the arrival of the new Moon and was cause for celebration. The word “Ides” is derived from Latin, meaning “to divide.”
Mothering Sunday in 2026 falls on Sunday, March 15. Mothering Sunday, celebrated in the United Kingdom and Ireland, occurs on the fourth Sunday of Lent, which is exactly three weeks before Easter. Unlike the fixed-date Mother's Day in countries like the United States, Canada, and Australia, Mothering Sunday’s date changes each year according to the Christian liturgical calendar.
On March 15, 2026, several notable observances and events are celebrated:
Dumbstruck Day: A day to express frustration.
Everything You Think is Wrong Day: A day to challenge and celebrate wrong beliefs.
International Day Against Police Brutality: A day to raise awareness and advocate against police violence.

I Like it👍👍
A truly wonderful way to express the need of human life to succeed, to live, to enjoy, to rejoice. You say it so beautifully! 🕊️🙏🪔
Packed with a powerful punch. Wow, Alyssa! Congratulations on your placement in Gabriel's challenge!
I can see why this placed, Alyssa. It captured that edginess (excuse the pun) so well of not really knowing exactly where you are thought-wise.
It feels like an uncomfortable place to be... Congratulations on placing in the challenge!
Beautiful and quite relatable. Well done and congrats.
This is really well done, Alyssa! The “on the edge” lines swelled so strongly and the final three lines were the anticipated explosion!! Congrats!
Well done placing in the challenge!🤩
Congrats!!
Beautifully captured… love the contrasts.
This is just so striking. Concisely framing a universe of aching, yearning. Thank you for submitting this wonder of a piece to my Lost-ish challenge! It makes a truly stellar entry. :)
My oh my Alyssa, wanted to say saw your comment on my Advocate piece, not had a chance to reply to them all and not began the mammoth task of reading them all lol as had a few things happen offline - Uncle passed away. But, wanted to make sure I was subscribed and decided to check out something short while having some tea. This poem defines how I have felt so many times in life. Always teetering on the edge of...good, bad, though often good stuff...but never...really there. I often end up face first in the bad (funny how that works, eh?) anyway...loved the simplicity of the form and the way you tied it all neatly with an impactful and powerful bow at the end. Can't wait to dive into your offerings for my challenge! loved this!
I feel like you’ve perfectly encapsulated my lived experiences. Loved this, so good
Powerful work!! So emotional and strongly worded!
Oh my God Alyssa, it's like you stole the words from my heart right now. I love love love this. So relatable!
