Mistletoe

A haiku

"Mistletoe on sycamore

Green clump, Christmas symbolโ€”

gives me joy galore."

Note: Mistletoe is a plant semi-parasite that grows on big trees like oak, sycamore, sweetgum, alder. I love spotting them in the branches. They are especially distinct in autumn and winter.

If you didnโ€™t knowโ€”because of their evergreen nature, mistletoes are often used as ornaments during Christmas, under which lovers kiss.

Interestingly, mistletoe extract is also used in some anti-cancer therapies.
