I Value my Freedom
And will not let anybody exploit me

I have many degrees,
high quality, but no job,
situations did not allow it.
And I am also repelled
by being tethered to a cubicle,
wasting away life.
So, I try to earn
through writing and art,
from the flexibility
and freedom of home.
Visibility and support matter,
when you are freelancer, entrepreneur.
But people who know me in real life
often ignore my efforts,
as if I am invisible.
Yet when they need something,
suddenly, surprisingly,
I become visible.
They want to consume my time,
my energy, hard-earned resources.
I am kind, no doubt.
But I have started saying “no.”
Am I wrong?
We credit bees for hard-working,
but is not its opportunist
that it comes when flowers bloom.

You're not wrong. I noticed long ago that if others can, they'll take everything you'll give them and offer nothing in return.
