Ashfall
Watching the Last Fire Fade

The flame, it dances, wild and untamed,
A primal roar, consuming all it finds,
In its bright embrace, nothing is unclaimed.
*
Trees, once towering, bow to fire’s claim,
The crackling limbs collapse, their safety binds,
The flame, it dances, wild and untamed.
*
Brush of dusk, the world becomes inflamed,
With sparks flying free like broken minds,
In its bright embrace, nothing is unclaimed.
*
Memories melt, their moments wrongly framed,
Steel and wood surrender, none are unshamed,
The flame, it dances, wild and untamed.
*
In chaos, each foundation slowly waned,
As night descends, the final heat proclaimed,
In its bright embrace, nothing is unclaimed.
*
A world unmade, lost love’s cruel designs,
Only ash remains where dreams once flamed,
The flame, it dances, wild and untamed,
In its bright embrace, nothing is unclaimed.

A powerful and mindbending line to ponder, "A world unmade, lost love’s cruel designs." Congrats for being featured as Vocal's "Creators We're Loving!"
Well-wrought, Tim! The villanelle form reminds of the rolling fire in some ways, especially when coupled with your vivid imagery here.
I love the rhythm and repetition of this, Tim. I feel pulled into the fire. :) Love the choice of villanelle for this challenge :)
Brilliantly vivid… the image of fire is seared into us!
Boom, a villanelle on fire. You are really on a roll with these. 👏👏👏🔥
Wow, the imagery in this is amazing, so vivid and intense!
